Basic - Present Continuous

What are you doing? You are studying English right now.

• The Present Continuous is used to show actions that doesn’t over.

Ian likes to ask the people what are they doing, he loves to know it.

First, he asks his mother:

Ian – What are you doing, mum?

Beth – I’m making pancakes.

After, he asks to Diana:

Ian – What are you doing?

Diana – I am reading a book.

Ian asks to his mother again, but now, about David.

Ian – What is he doing?

Beth – He’s mowing the lawn.

Affirmative Form of the Present Continuous

Subject + To Be Verb in Present Simple + Verb with ING + Complement

Negative Form of the Present Continuous

Subject + To be Verb in Pres. Simp. + Not + Verb with ING + Complent

Interrogative Form of the Present Continuous

To Be Verb in Pres. Simp.+ Subject + Verb with ING + Complement

When the word is made by a consonant + vowel + consonant, we have to repeat the consonant in the final of the word and put in the ING.

Deborah: Hello, I’m Deborah.

Mariah: Hey Deborah, I’m Mariah. Nice to meet you!

Deborah: Nice to meet you too.  Are you waiting for someone?

Mariah: No, I’m not waiting for anybody. Why?

Deborah: Because my friend Julio is wanting to talk with you.

Mariah: Talk to me? I’m really sorry, but I’m dating.

Deborah: Oh … You have a boyfriend… That’s right. Thank you.
